Saul Serna, born and raised in San Jose, Ca and moved to Stockton, CA in 2001. I was a commuter to the Bay Area for many years, but 8yrs ago was transitioned to work from home fulltime by my employer. With no commute, this has given me the opportunity to not only get back to my artwork but also really get involved in my community and be an advocate for the arts.
I am most known and identified by my "Day of the Dead" themed artwork. For the past 6yrs I have been working with three wineries in Murphys, CA to design and create Day of the Dead themed wine labels which they release on the day of their annual festival every November. Its been an exciting and fun experience to see my work exposed in this capacity. Its a ongoing project I always look forward to being a part of.
Lately, I have challenged myself by experimenting with oils, where prior I was mainly using acylics. I am also experimenting with new subjects lately other than skeletons and skulls. So far, I am enjoying the experience with oils and have grown to love it. The pieces you see here today are all oils.
