[re]veer Experimental Soundcinema

[re]veer is David Qualls, Jim Hetrick , George Brais, and Brett DeBoer

Dave and George are teachers at Ceasar Chavez High School and Jim and Brett teach at University of the Pacific.

They started playing music together after Dave and Brett got inspired by a concert they saw at Shapeshifters in Oakland. They wanted to create something that was a combination of art and music. With Jim and George, the four began to talk about the concept of musical and visual conversations. As [re]veer, they knew they wanted to leave plenty of room for “in the moment” improvisation within an established structure.

Video creations follow a similar approach of initial free-form experimentation leading to a more defined purpose. Together, the goal is a visual and musical storytelling experience that inspires self-reflection and provokes conversations.

Other than that, It’s hard, even for us to describe exactly what kind of music we are trying to play. It has connections to Acid Jazz, Fusion and Prog Rock but doesn’t neatly fit in any single musical genre.

We are definitely having fun though.
